  1. Greetings JC,

Trust you are having a great day.

I’d read through your profile and your blog. I’d also read through your interview with Eric of Flat world knowledge. And am Deeply impressed with your level of expertise and experience. You truly are the “TextBook Guru”.

Am Eb’rahim Durosimi, a fellow at the FATE Institute for Venture Design, a business and Technology incubator, in affiliation with Center for Design Research Stanford University. (more info here: http://www.the-ivd.org).

At IVD, am the Project Head for ClassPC a project aimed at developing a computing device and Educational Operating system that will help bridge the Digital Divide between Students in Public Universities in West Africa based on recommendations by an Harvard and MIT sponsored research. (more information here: http://www.arp.harvard.edu/AfricaHigherEducation/Online.html)

Thus, with reference to the successful actualization of the Project ClassPC. I would really love to ask for your advice as regards how best you think we should go about building a Digital Open Library to be embedded in the Educational OS.

Would you recommend partnering with organisations like FWK or any other organisation already operating in that space.

If we are to build our own Library, how best do you think we can create our own repository. I mean how best can we source for Content.

We also thinking of creating something like an iTunes, but this time for Educational materials.

Please do you have any advice you would like to share with us on any of these.

In anticipation of your response, I say thank you. as we look forward to changing the face of Education in together.

    Regards

  2. Hi Jeff,

My company, BVT Publishing is a small publisher that focuses on producing books with the same look, feel and content as the market leaders but at 1/3 of the price. We have over 20 titles in multiple disciplines with over 300,000 students using our textbooks across the nation. Most of our books are priced in the $30 to $40 range with digital eBooks at $19.99.

As a smaller publisher we don’t have the deep pockets and marketing budget of the big boys and are seeking different channels to get the word out about our company and our books. Can you suggest different marketing channels for us?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. You can check us out at http://www.bvtpublishing.com. Thanks Jeff.

    Nate
